In today’s era, if a film wants to resonate with the audience, its CGI and VFX need to be impressive. Regrettably, the 2023 release of DCEU’s “The Flash” failed to deliver in this aspect. The movie faced criticism, particularly for its subpar and lackluster CGI that included cameos from characters of other DC films. This left the fans disappointed.
Now, VFX experts from the YouTube channel Corridor Crew have taken a closer look at the film. They analyze everything from the visual effects to the utilization of 3D models. Watch the video below and witness them identifying flaws in the movie.
In the video, the VFX artists pay special attention to the Superman cameos in “The Flash,” including Henry Cavill’s appearance in the Chronobowl. Commenting on this, one of the crew members, Jordan, says, “This is where it crosses the line, man.” Sam adds, “Polar Express Superman.”
The crew further discusses this scene and points out that while the rest of Henry Cavill’s body seems fine, his eyes lack life. They mention that the term they are looking for is “human expression.”
The VFX experts also analyze the Nicolas Cage and Christopher Reeve cameos in detail. Sam comments that the cinematography is working against itself because the first shot of Nic Cage looks like him, but when the camera orbits around, it becomes evident that it is a 3D model. He notes that the shot with glowing eyes looks perfect, but then the uncanny eyes ruin it. Similar issues are observed with the Christopher Reeve cameo.
Directed by Andy Muschietti, “The Flash” features Ezra Miller in the lead role of Barry Allen. It also stars Sasha Calle as Supergirl and includes other actors like Michael Shannon, Michael Keaton, Maribel Verdú, Kiersey Clemons, Ron Livingston, George Clooney, and Ben Affleck playing versions of Bruce Wayne.
