Since James Gunn announced that David Corenswet will replace Henry Cavill as Superman, DC Universe fans have been eagerly awaiting news about the new Batman in the upcoming film ‘Batman: The Brave and The Bold’.
Rumors began swirling when George Clooney made a return to the big screen in ‘The Flash’, sparking speculation that the actor, known for his role as Batman in the 1997 film ‘Batman and Robin’, would reprise the character. Prior to the release of Ezra Miller’s starrer, there were murmurs that DC would introduce a “familiar face” as Batman, who would then have a significant role. Fans started to believe that George’s cameo appearance in ‘The Flash’ signaled his return as Batman.
However, during a conversation with the director on Threads, fans received the confirmation they were seeking. One fan asked James Gunn, “James Gunn, can you confirm whether or not George Clooney is the DCU Batman? Loved the cameo in The Flash, but some people seem confused about who’s gonna be Batman in your DCU?”
“He is not,” replied Gunn.
This response confirmed that the director is indeed searching for a new actor to portray Batman. While the Superman actor, David Corenswet, is 30 years old, there are speculations that the chosen actor for Superman will be slightly older.
Currently, DC Studios is focused on finalizing the cast for Superman: Legacy. However, due to the ongoing writers’ and actors’ strike in Hollywood, fans might have to wait for some time before receiving any further updates on the Batman movie.
