Actor Sylvester Stallone recently visited the Vatican and was greeted by an unexpected surprise from Pope Francis. The Pope, a big fan of Stallone’s movies, playfully punched the ‘Rocky’ actor during their meeting, which was captured on social media.
The video shows Pope Francis, with a smile on his face, expressing his admiration for Stallone’s films. Stallone, accompanied by his wife, daughters, and brother, thanked the Pope and expressed his own gratitude for the warm reception.
During their conversation, the Pope jokingly challenged Stallone to a mini boxing match. In response, Stallone raised his fists and exchanged playful punches with the Pope, resulting in laughter from everyone present.
The group later took a photo together to commemorate the special moment, which was shared on Vatican News’ social media accounts. Stallone, also known as Sly, expressed his appreciation and described the meeting as a rare and special occasion in an Instagram post.
Aside from his encounter with the Pope, Stallone is busy with his latest series ‘Tulsa King,’ where he portrays the character Dwight ‘The General’ Manfredi. The series depicts Manfredi’s journey after spending 25 years in prison to protect his family.
In addition to ‘Tulsa King,’ Stallone is also working on another project titled ‘Sly,’ a documentary that will be released on Netflix. Directed by Thom Zinny, the documentary provides an intimate and unexpected look into Stallone’s early struggles as a troubled child in New York and his subsequent rise to success in the film industry through iconic characters like Rocky and Rambo.
‘Sly’ is set to premiere on the closing night of the Toronto Film Festival and will be released in November 2023.
