The Prince of Wales has expressed his desire to teach his children the importance of “losing well”. Prince William, an avid sports enthusiast, is determined to instill in his children – Prince George, ten, Princess Charlotte, eight, and Prince Louis, five – the understanding that there is a right and wrong way to lose.
During an appearance on the ‘The Good, The Bad and The Rugby’ podcast, Prince William elaborated on the role that sports played in his own upbringing. He emphasized the value of the team environment, the thrill of competition, and the bond formed with teammates. It was in this context that he learned to appreciate both the highs and lows of sports, and the importance of looking out for one another.
Prince William, who became the President of England’s Football Association in 2006, is already actively teaching his children about the concept of losing. He believes that understanding camaraderie, building relationships, and learning how to lose gracefully are skills that need greater emphasis in today’s society.
On the other hand, the Princess of Wales has disclosed that her children are eager participants in various sports. As patron of the Rugby Football Union in England, the 41-year-old royal enjoys observing her children’s differing temperaments and how they explore different sporting activities, anticipating their growth and development in those endeavors.
