Catherine, Princess of Wales, was compelled to participate in a parents’ race barefoot during school sports day. In an interview, she disclosed that she and her spouse, Prince William, became highly competitive during the event.
When asked if she would participate in sports day, she responded, “We have indeed!”
During an appearance on the podcast ‘The Good, The Bad and The Rugby’, the princess stated, “Several schools have banned parents’ races due to the excessive competitiveness.” She further added, “We were explicitly informed that there would be no parents’ race. However, they suddenly announced a last-minute parents’ race, and because of my competitive nature, both of us felt compelled to take part. Consequently, I had to compete barefoot.”
Prince William, aged 41, has also admitted to being extremely competitive among the other parents. The future monarch, who became the President of England’s Football Association in May 2006, stated, “I came in second. Initially, I started running and joined in, but when I looked around, I realized I was quite far ahead, with an Italian father in front of me. I thought, ‘I need to catch up with him.'”
Additionally, Catherine added, “And I ran barefoot in the same race.”
The princess has a keen interest in sports and particularly enjoys swimming in cold water. She shared, “I genuinely love all sports. Personally, I have a fondness for swimming wherever and whenever possible. The colder the water, the better. I absolutely adore it. To the extent that William says, ‘You’re crazy,’ especially when it’s dark and rainy. Yet, I find myself actively seeking out cold water. I simply love it.”
