The pro-wrestling community and fans were shocked by the news of Matt Riddle allegedly being s*xually assaulted. However, the reason behind his absence from RAW and live events remains unknown to those backstage.
Last Sunday, Riddle created quite a stir by accusing a police officer at JFK airport in New York City of s*xual assault. Although he later deleted the Instagram post, the impact was already made, and an internal investigation by The Port Authority is currently underway.
As a result of this ongoing controversy, WWE has decided to remove Riddle from RAW and all his other scheduled appearances. The official reason provided is that Riddle is dealing with a ‘medical illness’.
According to Mike Johnson of PW Insider, WWE informed their backstage personnel about Riddle’s absence being due to a ‘medical illness’.
EWrestlingNews clarifies the situation by stating, “WWE has made the decision to remove Matt Riddle from his upcoming appearances due to the allegations of s*xual harassment against a police officer at JFK airport in New York City on Sunday. Riddle will not be present at tonight’s RAW or the live events in Idaho and Washington over the weekend, where he was supposed to perform.”
