Despite contracting COVID-19, Whoopi Goldberg is “doing very well”. The 67-year-old star was not able to host ‘The View’ on Tuesday after testing positive for the virus. However, according to her co-host Joy Behar, Whoopi is now at the “tail end” of the illness and is expected to be back on screen soon.
Joy Behar stated in an interview with ‘Entertainment Tonight’: “She’s at the tail end of it. So, she should be back really soon. I hear she’s doing very well. A lot of people are getting it again.”
In the beginning of this week, Joy first announced that Whoopi would not be making an appearance on the show’s latest season premiere due to her COVID-19 diagnosis. Joy said: “As you can see, Whoopi is not here, she has COVID. Yes, it’s back, it’s back, but she’s on the mend, she’s on the tail end, and she’ll probably be back this week. But, sorry she’s not here, for those of you that were looking forward to seeing her.”
Whoopi Goldberg joined the panel of ‘The View’ in 2007 and has been a prominent anchor of the show since then.
On the other hand, Joy Behar is one of the longest-serving panellists on ‘The View’ and has been part of the lineup since the show’s premiere in 1997. However, she was “kicked out” for a two-year period but later returned to the show by popular demand. Joy revealed: “I just keep on like a boomerang. This is the 27th year but I was fired for two years; I have to be truthful honest and accurate. For two years they kicked my butt out of here and then begged me to come back!”
